The HOST: Imperfect Specimin HB-01

COALITION BIOHAZARD OBSERVATION DIVISION FIELD REPORT: HOST PHENOMENON SUBJECT CLASSIFICATION: Imperfect Host CLEARANCE: Restricted REFERENCE: HB-01 / Early Reassembly Study Summary The entity designated Imperfect Host represents the earliest confirmed stage of Host reassembly observed in the field. These forms are most commonly encountered in recent casualty zones where biological remains have been left untreated or unburned. Imperfect Hosts are characterized by unstable anatomy, conflicted movement, and the retention of recognisable fragments of their previous biological form. They are not considered intelligent in any conventional sense. However, residual behavioural traces have been observed and should not be mistaken for awareness, memory, or survivorship.

Physical Characteristics Observed Imperfect Hosts demonstrate the following common traits: – Distorted or partially intact cranial features – Skeletal structures bent beyond viable biological alignment – Swollen or overdeveloped soft tissue masses – Redundant or malformed limbs – Partial organ exposure without corresponding blood loss – Reassembled posture inconsistent with the original organism Anatomical arrangement appears functional only by accident. Bodies do not rot in a natural pattern. Instead, tissue is redistributed as if under competing internal instructions. In several cases, subjects appeared to be in the process of becoming something else, but had not yet stabilised

Locomotion and Behaviour Movement is erratic and often deeply unnatural. Subjects have been recorded: – dragging themselves forward using misaligned limbs – attempting to stand despite structural collapse – pivoting or jerking in opposing directions simultaneously – advancing toward nearby movement, heat, or sound without coordination One of the clearest indicators of Imperfect Host formation is motion conflict. Multiple anatomical systems appear to attempt control at once, producing writhing, stuttering, or broken advances. This suggests that the Host at this stage has not yet achieved unified structural intent.

Residual Features Unlike later Host formations, Imperfect Hosts often retain identifiable visual elements from their origin organism. Human or creature heads, hands, rib structures, and facial arrangements may remain visible, though almost always displaced, repurposed, or partially absorbed into new growth. These residual elements create the false impression that the subject is still somehow “present” within the body. This is incorrect. No evidence supports the survival of the original consciousness. What remains appears to be biological echo, not identity.

Threat Assessment Imperfect Hosts are dangerous at close range, particularly in groups, but are considered less tactically efficient than later observed Host forms. Threat factors include: – unpredictable movement – refusal to cease activity after severe physical damage – ability to form from mixed remains – psychological impact on nearby personnel Field teams report that inexperienced soldiers are more likely to hesitate when engaging Imperfect Hosts due to their recognisable anatomy. This hesitation has resulted in multiple fatalities.

Recommendations In all cases of suspected Imperfect Host emergence: 1. Do not attempt recovery of remains. 2. Do not allow visual familiarity to delay engagement. 3. Apply immediate incineration protocols. 4. Avoid prolonged observation of movement patterns. 5. Assume all nearby biological waste is compromised. Final Note Imperfect Hosts are not the final state of Host development. They are the first visible failure of death to remain final. What makes them disturbing is not their strength. It is the fact that they still resemble what they were.
