Commands

Description

Commands are the way units perform actions in VoidSiege.

A unit acts by being issued a legal command, which then uses the game’s existing rules such as movement, shooting, close combat, or damage.

Expanded Description

A unit may only be issued a command that it is eligible to perform.

Each command defines:

  • when it can be declared,
  • how it is resolved,
  • which rules it uses,
  • and any restrictions or exceptions that apply.

Commands do not create separate game systems. Instead, they use the existing core rules to resolve their effects unless a rule specifically says otherwise.

When a command is declared:

  1. Confirm its declaration requirements are met.
  2. Confirm the unit is eligible.
  3. Assign any required command token.
  4. Resolve the command.
  5. Apply any restrictions or other effects created by that command.

A command token identifies the command being used but is not a restriction unless a rule specifically says it is.

Example

A player wants a unit to move.

The player declares the appropriate command, confirms the unit is eligible, and resolves the command using the normal movement rules.

If that command applies any restrictions, they are applied after the command has finished resolving.
