To claim that the Council is without mercy is foolish propaganda, spread by those who seek to bring ruin upon our lives. One need only look upon the Convict Drones to witness the Council’s generosity—and its willingness to offer every citizen a second chance.
Within each mechanised carapace stands a disgraced member of Confederation society. Their former crimes are no longer important. What matters now is their opportunity to seek redemption through faithful service on the front lines. Those who serve with sufficient distinction may even earn the right to reclaim their place within the mighty Confederation.
Following the civil uprising and the establishment of the Confederation, the Council faced several acts of resistance. Although those responsible were swiftly brought to heel, the needless loss of life—even deplorable life—was recognised as wasteful. Rehabilitation offered a more productive solution.
Convicts fitted with the distinctive control carapace entered service in 1215 AZ. The programme proved visionary and remains in operation today.
The carapace is more than armour. Cybernetic connections intersect with the wearer’s major organs and nervous system, while the reinforced exoskeleton monitors every movement. Information is relayed directly to the convict, guiding them towards their assigned objectives. Should obedience falter, the mechanisms can manipulate the wearer’s actions to ensure that every instruction is followed precisely.
Service will be carried out—with or without the wearer’s approval.
In the rare event that a convict’s will overcomes the control system, the carapace simply shuts down. The wearer’s vital organs follow shortly afterwards.
