Choosing the Character's unit

The unit profile writes Character with a unit name in brackets, such as Character (Convict), Character (Death Squad), or Character (Gore Worms/Lashers).

Before the game begins, choose one friendly unit matching that name. This is the Character's attached unit and cannot be changed during the game.

While the Character is attached

While the Character is within 2 inches of its attached unit:

  • Treat the Character as part of that unit for commands, restrictions, targeting, damage allocation, and model removal.
  • Use the attached unit's Move, Resolve, HP, Class, and special rules for the Character.
  • The Character keeps and may use its own weapons.

The Character does not increase the unit's starting Unit Size or Threat Cost and does not change scenario scoring unless another rule says otherwise.

Moving away from the unit

If the Character is no longer within 2 inches of its attached unit, it stops being part of that unit and immediately returns to using its own profile and special rules.

Move within 2 inches again to restore the attachment.

Example

A model has Character (Death Squad). Before the game, its player chooses one friendly Death Squad as the attached unit. While the Character remains within 2 inches, it receives commands with that Death Squad and uses the Death Squad's unit statistics, but it continues using its own weapons. If it moves more than 2 inches away, it returns to its own profile.
