Trudging forward behind a wall of mechanized soldiers, the armies of the Confederation lay waste to all that would oppose their master’s rule. Now is the age of the machine and the artificial mind, a force they were once united against, they now unwillingly server for their survival. All within the Confederation must fall in line whether obediently in their given role, or forcibly as an automated shield. Their masters are always watching, creating new engines of war and devising grand strategy as the citizens go about their daily lives in rigorous, constant toil. All in the Confederation are elite. None are less than super powered war veterans as to be anything other means annihiliation in this new time of war. The days of the lowly soldier in basic armour and common weapon are done, only the shunt and drive of mechanical monsters remains. You are a commander of the Confederation. No force can break your immovable phalanx of silver and gold. Commit your forces and purge the lands with your new army of unwavering, unquestioning servants.

Convict Drones
To say the Council is not without mercy is only foolish propaganda driven by those who would seek to bring ruin to our lives. You need only look upon the Convict Drones to see the Councils generosity and will to give all a second chance. Within the mechanisms and carapace stands a disgraced member of our fair society. What crimes they have committed are no longer important as they seek to redeem themselves now in service. Those that serve faithfully on the front lines may even once again take their rightful place back within our mighty Confederation. As the Council brought the traitors of the civil uprising to heel it became clear that not all of those in their charge would be grateful for their protection and wisdom. In the first years of the establishing of the Confederation, the Council was faced with a few uprisings. Although those involved were swiftly dealt with,it became apparent that the loss of life, regardless of that life being deplorable or not, was still wasteful. The Council began work on the idea of Rehabilitating criminals by having them serve in the most dangerous tasks against the enemy where they could do no harm as they sought forgiveness. Convicts fitted with the control carapace so symbolic of the Convict Drones began to see service in the year 1215 AZ and proved to be a visionary idea still in use today. The convicts use the information relayed to them to achieve their tasks, the mechanisms of the advanced armor to survive, and the will of the Council to seek favor on the front lines. The armor itself is more of a control mechanism than a protection factor. The carapace fits over the torso intersecting cybernetics with the major organs and the nervous system. The exoskeleton ensures that the wearer’s actions are monitored and, if necessary manipulated, to ensure that instructions are carried out to the letter. Service will be carried out, with or without the wearers approval. In the rare circumstances a Convicts will overcomes the armor, the devices simply shut down, ensuring the vital organs of the wearer do the same.
Tin MEn MK2
All hope was now gone. Magmanon’s mighty cannons had long since fallen silent, and yet the enemy still poured over the battlements. From building to building, bunker to bunker, house to house, every soldier fought to their last breath, tearing flesh from their foes with their teeth as they fell to the ground and were torn to shreds. These creatures, “The Asylumists,” had swarmed across the land and laid waste to all in their path. This was the final stand of the Coalition. Every remaining weapon had been distributed and final orders given. To the last they would fight. The enemy tore through the third massive wall, it’s cannons falling from the structure into the burning debris below in a shower of fire and smoke. All that stood between them and the City itself now were a few thousand Soldiers. It was a lone, solitary pebble against the incoming sea. The sky above flashed with battle as jets and carriers spun through the dark clouds. The Artillery split the sky with round after round into the sprawling mass approaching, to no avail. This was it, nothing more could be done. Ironically it was not at the hands of their mortal enemies, The Guardians, that their empire was to crumble, it was to these frenzied monsters of nightmare. As the wave reached the soldiers, dug in and ready to die for their people, there was a mighty roar and explosion of smoke. The noise and smoke did not come from their enemy however, it came from behind them. Staggering and beaten soldiers spun around to see a field of red eyes light up from within the smog. Then suddenly they emerged, the Tin Men, the answer to every souls prayers trudged forward. Before them, outstretched and glowing hot, the Hellbore cannons leapt up in destructive chorus. Merciless and fearless, the machines thudded over the trenches into the oncoming enemy, laying waste to their foe as if they were death itself. Where the cannon pointed, the enemy fell. The Tin Men, a gift from the almighty Council, serve today as the Confederation’s main Infantry unit. They serve without question, have no need for food or rest and can be easily replaced. Often accompanied by the Gritguard, they take the casualties that the Confederation could not endure. Against enemies that seem to have endless numbers the Tin Men even the odds with disposable Infantry. Constructed as simply as possible and powered with a highly advanced Fizion Generator, although deemed of “less importance,” than a Soldiers life, their firepower and ability to calculate battle tactics faster than many organic lifeforms makes them a very formidable, disposable Infantry Unit.
RECON DRONES
With the success of the Tin Men, The Council were given the go ahead to begin production of many more mechanical soldiers. Before the events outside of Magmanon, in which the Council unleashed the Tin Men and averted the complete annihilation of the Coalition in the North, the creation of such things was seen as abominable by the Coalition as a whole. For many years the Council had worked in secrecy creating their machines, narrowly avoiding imprisonment or execution. They schemed in the lower, less habitable sections of the massive cities and spoke only in whispers in order to hide their endeavors. After the Civil war, which saw the Council triumph over the Primarshal’s Coalition, the need for control, secrecy and restraint ended. With their dominion over their new Confederation they set out into new experiments and theories. Within the cities the pace of life and the very way of existing changed almost overnight. Everyone was now forced to accept the new rule or face death, accept cybernetics and A.I as the norm or be exiled from the cities. Those who showed promise and obedience were quickly inaugurated into the Council secret service, implanted with surveillance devices and powerful concealed weapons. They would be the eyes and ears of the Council and report any issues with those under their rule. Recon drones, along with the Convict Drones were the children of I, self proclaimed Head of Law and Order within the Confederation. They would quickly reach areas before the approaching Tin-Men and relay vital information back to be analyzed and incorporated into any battle plan. Armed with a short range but powerful version of the Hellbore Rifle they would also prove to be fast hitting Infantry. All the drones needed to function was a decent, fast acting CPU. I decided that a brain would suffice, taken straight from the heads of any criminals deemed compliant enough, with or without their permission.
CONVICT REDEEMERS
Of all the criminals seeking redemption, many lose their lives in pursuit of the Council’s forgiveness. Some, however, rise to the challenge and by putting their faith back into the hands of the masters gain the rank of Redeemer.Redeemers are afforded greater freedom when on the battlefield and granted access to more powerful weaponry. The Larius Pulse Driver is the badge of honour serving as a devastating accompaniment to the assault tactics of the unit. Combined with the Fizion Flail, redeemers charge headlong into the enemy with deadly efficiency. Some would argue that Redeemers and the Convicts only serve to promote violence and their conduct simply rewards those capable of great harm as opposed to those seeking amends. This is of course nonsense as only those deemed worthy survive under the Council’s watchful grace.
TIN MEN MK2 LINEBREAKERs
Tin-Men Linebreakers began, as most Confederation units do, as an experiment. The Tin-Men were proving decisive against many enemies but they had flaws. Early A.I rendered them increasingly specialist and unable to switch tactics automatically. Today this is not an issue as the Council is able to upload and alter their specifications and tactics almost instantaneously, but before the civil war, more variations of Tin-Men were needed to fill the gaps. The Linebreakers were adept at dealing with the Death squads of the Asylumists that had so far devastated regular Tin-Men. The greater range of the Hellbore Drive Canon allowed them to hit their targets long before any fire could come their way. Combined with the addition of a under slung Hellbore assault rifle, if the Horde got too close, the Linebreakers did what their namesake suggested. Unfortunately, such massive power output does effect the Tin-Mens shielding making them somewhat more vulnerable at close ranges and the absence of any close quarters weapon also has its drawbacks. Needless to say when combined with their brothers, they can lay waste to any target that crosses their path.
Recon Sparkies
The Sparkie was the first version of the Recon Drone to be produced for combat purposes. Before their introduction into the army, they served as simple reconnaissance, but the speed at which the enemy forces advanced and came into contact with these machines forced them into a duel purpose. The Sparkie is lighter and less protected than its variant but this allows it to maneuverer with greater speed and react fast enough to evade enemy actions. Their weapon, although not as fearsome as the Hellbore Assault Rifle can still pack a punch. In addition to their primary function, which sees matter shredded in sparks of white light, the residual effects linger on any surviving target, disrupting shielding and defences, making them easy targets for other units. Outside of battle, Sparkies have been rumoured to act strangely, often approaching civilians or other biological lifeforms in an unusual manner and deviation from their programming. It is not known why they exhibit this behavior but one of the strangest occurrences reported was of a Sparkie hurling itself into a geothermal reservoir. The drone of course did not survive but many onlookers reported unusual noises coming from it before the event. Apparently, it was almost like someone humming a song.
CONVICT PROVICTUS
Redeemer’s lives tend to be short. In their pursuit of forgiveness, they hurl themselves into battle in an attempt to gain the favour of the Council. Those who survive and succeed where all others have failed are elevated to the rank of Provictus and in doing so they are granted far more than fame and attention. The additional tech and weaponry afforded to them is almost the same quality as Gritguard, the loyal soldiers of the Confederation. With their new frames, they whip around their enemies with unnatural speed and grace as foes appear to simply melt before them. From afar they send bolts of swirling force into their targets and their presence on the field is a boon to all who see them. Provictus are revered among the Convicts and for good reason. They have risen to the peak of redemption and await the Council’s pardon. Unfortunately, to this day, no Provictus has managed to complete their sentence and gain the freedom they yearn for. All have fallen in glorious battle shortly before their release but still, in their deaths, they are immortalised by the Council’s decree.
There are many Provictus currently in service, most employed into the thickest of fighting. The most revered of these is Sakarn the Breacher. Sakarn is a veteran of the Gragon Line battles that rage between all factions in the West. Uncompromising and fearless, they have been known to charge headlong into the enemy, preferring close combat to range amidst the burning towers of the old settlement. Unlike others who share the rank, Sakarn no longer wishes for freedom, having turned down the Council’s offer of a final mission before forgiveness. Instead, painted in bright colours that contrast the dark surroundings and projecting immense noise to attract enemies, they fight endlessly to feed their lust to impress their masters.
ARSENAL
After the carnage of the Civil War, Tin Men replaced the vast numbers of those killed in the conflict against the Asylumists. Although the Confederation would no longer see the unfathomable numbers of Horde spilling over the land as they had done previously, many massive waves would still clash with them time and time again bringing the horrors of the past back into view. Flesh and blood soldiers would still take to the battlefields in mighty suits of metal but against the ever present dangers posed by the Asylumists, Dark Blade and other rising forces it would be impossible to win a war of attrition and casualties would quickly become unsustainable without the mechanization of the Confederation forces. Alongside the Tin-Men came the Attack Squad, Wire Men and the Arsenal. The Arsenal was designed as a small, mobile weapons platform that trailed the columns of Tin Men, laying down fire and providing support where needed. Although it carries a large ammount of firepower it is surprisingly fast and can traverse the battered landscape with relative ease. Its Skyshatter Lances are designed to punch holes in enemy armor and are able to pose a threat even to enemies that are cowering behind fortifictions. Later, the Arsenal would be outfitted with armamants to suit the ever changing theatre of war and many varriations sprang up to deal with other threat like the Host and Biocite Expance. These would bring plasma and radiation weapons to the organic monstrousities to burn and disintergrate their filth from the planet.
