Declaration Trigger
Advance may be declared during a unit’s normal command window.
Resolution Timing
Advance resolves using the normal command timing rules.
Targeting
Advance does not require a target to be declared.
If the command reaches its shooting portion, resolve that portion only if there is a legal enemy target at that time.
Resolution
When Advance resolves:
- Resolve movement using the normal movement rules.
- After movement is complete, resolve shooting using the normal shooting rules, if a legal target exists.
Restrictions Applied
After Advance resolves, apply:
- Shoot
Cannot Be Declared If
Advance cannot be declared if:
- the unit already has the Shoot restriction
- the unit is otherwise ineligible to perform the command
Notes
- Advance does not redefine movement or shooting. Use the relevant core files.
- If movement resolves but no legal target exists for the shooting portion, resolve only the legal portion of the command.
- Use
timing/command_timing.mdfor declaration and response timing.
