Declaration Trigger
Assault may be declared during a unit's normal command window.
Resolution Timing
Assault resolves using the normal command timing rules.
Targeting
Assault requires any legal target or targets required by its attack portion.
Those targets must be legal when the relevant portion of the command resolves.
Resolution
When Assault resolves:
- Resolve movement using Run-distance movement as defined in
core/movement.md. - After movement is complete, resolve the attack portion using the relevant shooting, melee, or other attack rules required by the command.
Restrictions Applied
After Assault resolves, apply:
- Shoot
- Run
Cannot Be Declared If
Assault cannot be declared if:
- the unit already has any restriction this command applies
- the unit is otherwise ineligible to perform Assault
Notes
- This file defines the Assault command only.
- The Assault ranged weapon trait is defined in
core/ranged_weapons.md. - Assault uses Run-distance movement, then resolves its attack portion.
- Assault does not redefine shooting or close combat. Use the relevant core files.
- If only part of Assault can resolve legally, resolve only the legal portion unless another rule states otherwise.
- Use
timing/command_timing.mdfor declaration and response timing.
