How Friendly Friendly Fire works

Friendly Friendly Fire is an Asylumists faction or army-package special rule.

Before resolving melee attacks with an Asylumists Horde unit, you may choose one friendly Death Squad unit that has Line of Sight to the enemy target of that melee and has at least one ranged weapon in range of that enemy target.

The chosen Death Squad unit immediately resolves a Snap Fire attack against that enemy target.

This Snap Fire attack does not cost a Command Point, does not assign a command token, and does not impose a restriction on the Death Squad unit.

For this Snap Fire attack, any failed Target Lock rolls are resolved against the Asylumists Horde unit instead of being discarded.

A Death Squad unit can use Friendly Friendly Fire only once during the same close combat resolution.

Friendly Friendly Fire does not change normal shooting target legality, range, Line of Sight, Cover, Target Lock, damage, damage allocation, or removal timing except where this rule explicitly states otherwise.

Example

A unit or weapon with Friendly Friendly Fire meets the rule's stated condition. Friendly Friendly Fire is an Asylumists faction or army-package special rule. Once those steps are complete, play continues normally.
