Core Rule
Each vehicle profile or hull defines the vehicle's listed facings.
When a rule needs a vehicle facing, use the closest listed facing to the relevant attacking model or effect source.
If more than one listed facing is tied for closest, the defending vehicle's controller chooses which tied facing is used.
Rules That Use Facing
Vehicle facing is used for:
- Field of Fire Line of Sight source points when a vehicle weapon lists a face.
- System damage system type when vehicle damage uses the closest facing.
Facing does not change range, target legality, Cover, Target Lock, damage, or damage allocation unless another rule explicitly says so.
Facing Effects
Energy
- Minor System Damage: Cannot use Overcharge
- Major System Damage: May only use Move and Shoot commands
Propulsion
- Minor System Damage: Cannot use Run or Ramming Speed
- Major System Damage: Cannot use Run or Ramming Speed and must pivot using a Move command
Targeting
- Minor System Damage: All weapons lose Auto
- Major System Damage: May only shoot using Snap Fire
Notes
- Vehicle facings must be visible or clearly listed before rules that reference facings can be resolved.
- If an attack or effect has no clear attacking model or effect source, resolve that source before determining the closest facing.
