Declaration Trigger

Ditch may be declared during the unit’s normal activation.

Resolution Timing

Ditch resolves using the normal command timing rules.

Targeting

Ditch does not require a target.

Resolution

When Ditch resolves:

  1. Resolve movement using the normal movement rules.
  2. After movement is complete, the unit gains the Ditch defensive effect.
  3. While the Ditch defensive effect is active, the unit gains +1 Resolve.
  4. Critical Damage cannot be applied to the unit while the Ditch defensive effect is active. Damage is rolled normally instead.
  5. The Ditch defensive effect expires immediately after the first applicable attack against the unit is fully resolved.

Restrictions Applied

After Ditch resolves, apply:

  • Shoot
  • Run

Cannot Be Declared If

Ditch cannot be declared if:

  • the unit already has any restriction this command applies
  • the unit is otherwise ineligible to perform Ditch

Notes

  • Ditch does not redefine the movement engine. Use core/movement.md for movement distance, pathing, and terrain interaction.
  • Ditch grants +1 Resolve but does not gain Cover bonuses unless another rule explicitly allows it.
  • Ditch uses the normal damage engine except where this command explicitly prevents Critical Damage.
  • If the movement portion resolves, apply the Ditch defensive effect unless another rule states otherwise.
