Explosive weapons use the 3 inch blast template to determine which models are affected.
- For each successful Target Lock with an Explosive weapon, place one 3 inch blast template.
- For each Target Lock roll of 1, place one 3 inch blast template so that it is partially over any model in the target unit. All models affected by that template suffer Critical Damage.
- Other successful Target Lock rolls place the center of the template over the closest model in the target unit.
- If there are multiple successful Target Lock rolls, place additional templates over the next closest models to the firer.
- All models even partially under a template placed by Explosive are eligible models for that attack. This overrides Target Limit and closest-model allocation for those template-affected models.
- Non-critical damage caused by Explosive follows the normal attack and damage framework unless another rule explicitly states otherwise.
> Example: A unit of 3 Sisters of Theia fires weapons with Explosive 2. Each model rolls 2 Target Lock dice (6 total). Four dice succeed, so place 4 blast templates. If the unit was also Stronger this command, they roll 6 total Target Lock dice plus 1 extra die (7 total), not +1 per shot.
