General Rules
Modifiers
Modifiers increase or reduce a game value, such as a dice result, movement distance, Resolve, damage, range, or Target Lock result. Work out the base value first, then apply every relevant modifier unless a rule gives a different order.
Applying a modifier
First determine the base value. Then apply any modifiers that affect it unless a rule specifically gives another order.
Modifiers may change values such as:
- dice rolls or results;
- movement distance;
- Resolve;
- damage;
- weapon range; or
- Target Lock results.
Using more than one modifier
If several modifiers apply to the same value, apply all of them before deciding the final result unless a rule says otherwise.
Values that cannot be modified
A modifier cannot change a value or rule that specifically says it cannot be modified. Only a rule that explicitly creates an exception can change it.
Example
An attack produces a damage result of 4 and receives a +1 damage modifier. Apply the modifier after finding the base result, increasing the final damage result to 5. If another relevant modifier also applied, it would be included before the final result was decided.
