Core Rule
Vehicles interact with terrain and scenery differently from infantry only where this file or another vehicle rule explicitly says so.
Use core/general/terrain_and_scenery.md for the difference between ground-level terrain and raised scenery.
Cover
- Vehicles do not gain bonuses from Cover.
- Vehicles ignore Cover bonuses.
Eligible Scenery
A vehicle may move through eligible scenery where vehicle terrain rules, the scenario, the terrain setup, or another rule allows that scenery to be traversed by vehicles.
Scenery is eligible only if it is a raised battlefield feature that the vehicle is allowed to traverse on the same battlefield level.
This applies during normal vehicle Move and Run-style movement unless another rule states otherwise.
Moving Through Terrain Or Scenery
When a vehicle moves through eligible scenery on the same battlefield level:
- Complete the vehicle's movement through that scenery.
- Reduce that scenery's Cover by 1 for the rest of the game, to a minimum of 0.
- Roll 1D6 for that scenery.
- On a roll of 6, that scenery collapses.
Cover reduction happens each time a vehicle moves through that scenery.
Collapsed scenery remains obstruction terrain with Cover 0 unless a scenario or terrain rule says otherwise.
Crush
When scenery collapses because of vehicle movement, the collapse triggers Crush.
Use special-rules/crush.md to resolve Crush damage.
Elevation
Vehicles ignore vertical distance only while traversing or colliding with eligible scenery on the same battlefield level.
This does not allow a vehicle to:
- climb walls
- change building levels
- be placed on a different level of a building
- end in an illegal position
Moving Through Models
A vehicle may move through or over friendly or enemy models only if those models are not engaged and their Resolve is lower than the vehicle's modified Shield.
This only creates an exception to the normal restriction against moving through or over models.
It does not allow a vehicle to:
- end in an illegal position
- end within a prohibited distance of an enemy model
- ignore unit coherency
- bypass engagement restrictions
- bypass command restrictions
A vehicle may not move through or over engaged models unless another rule explicitly permits it.
Notes
- Use
core/vehicles/vehicle_commands.mdfor Ramming Speed. - This file does not define repair, recovery, terrain removal, terrain self-damage to vehicles, or expanded wreckage rules.
