General Rules

Measurements

VoidSiege measures distances in inches and feet. Measure from the closest part of a model, include upward movement when climbing, and check weapon range against the distance printed on the weapon.

Measuring between models

Measure the shortest distance between the two points involved. When measuring to or from a model, start from the closest point of that model.

Moving vertically

When a model moves upward, include the vertical distance in the total distance travelled. Moving downward does not normally use movement distance.

Checking weapon range

A target is in range when the closest part of the target is within the distance listed for the weapon. Other targeting requirements, such as visibility and Line of Sight, still apply.

Example

A weapon has a range of 8 inches. The closest points of the firing model and the target model are 7.5 inches apart, so the target is in range. During movement, the firing model later climbs 3 inches upward and moves 2 inches across a platform. It has travelled 5 inches in total because upward movement is included.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I measure from on a model?

Measure from the closest point of the model.

Do I measure the shortest route between two models?

Yes, unless a rule specifically requires you to measure a movement path or another route.

Does climbing use movement distance?

Yes. Include the vertical distance when a model moves upward.

Does moving downward use movement distance?

Not normally. Descending does not cost movement unless another rule says otherwise.
