Authoritative Rule
Movement lets you reposition your models on the battlefield. How far a unit can move is normally shown by its Move value on its Operational Data card, or OPDAT. Different commands may let a unit move its normal distance, move twice as far, or move under special conditions.
Current source path
Check the current Run rule and movement restrictions.
Authoritative Rule
Run lets a unit move up to twice its normal Move distance. The unit gains the Run restriction after the command and must follow the normal limits on running through Cover.

Movement lets you reposition your models on the battlefield. How far a unit can move is normally shown by its Move value on its Operational Data card, or OPDAT. Different commands may let a unit move its normal distance, move twice as far, or move under special conditions.
Authoritative Rule
Overrun lets a unit make Run-distance movement while using the special Overrun permissions for Cover. Afterward, the unit receives both the Shoot and Run restrictions.
Current source path
Open declaration, targeting and shooting sources in order.
Authoritative Rule
Use the Shoot command when you want a unit to attack an enemy with its ranged weapons. The unit must have a legal target and must be eligible to make a shooting attack when the command is resolved.
Authoritative Rule
Shooting lets an eligible unit attack a legal enemy at range. Check the target, choose weapons, make Target Lock rolls and then resolve Cover, Critical Damage and normal damage in order.
Authoritative Rule
A ranged weapon's profile tells you how it shoots, including its type, range, Rate of Fire, Force and any traits. These values are used whenever a unit makes a ranged attack with that weapon.
Current source path
Use the current assault and timing sources for this action.
Authoritative Rule
Assault lets a unit rush towards the enemy and attack as part of the same command. The unit moves using its Run distance, then resolves the attack allowed by the command.
Authoritative Rule
Melee is the procedure for attacks between models that are legally engaged. Check who can attack, choose legal targets, make the attack rolls and then resolve damage and removal.
Authoritative Rule
After every command has completely resolved, check for opposing models that are within 1 inch or otherwise legally engaged. Resolve each eligible close combat immediately before play continues.
Authoritative Rule
Vehicles normally fight in melee like other units, but use their modified Shield instead of Resolve. Their movement through models and their melee interactions also follow the vehicle exceptions below.
Current source path
Review Defend alongside its timing and related combat sources.
Authoritative Rule
Defend prepares a unit to withstand an incoming attack. It can be used during the unit's activation or in response to being targeted, provided the attack has not yet reached its attack or damage rolls.
Authoritative Rule
Cover makes a unit harder to hit with ranged attacks. Depending on the Cover value, low successful Target Lock rolls are removed before damage is resolved.
Authoritative Rule
Covering Fire lets one of your units protect a friendly unit by shooting the enemy that has just targeted it. The covering attack is resolved before the enemy finishes its attack.
Current source path
Open Rally and command timing before resolving recovery.
Authoritative Rule
Rally gives a depleted unit a chance to return missing models to the battlefield. Roll one Resolve test for each missing model and return one model for each success, following the placement limits below.
Current source path
Find the matching entry in Weapon Traits, then use the full Rule.
Authoritative Rule
Weapon traits are abilities printed on a weapon's profile. Read the named trait when that weapon attacks, and apply its effect during the stated Target Lock, attack or damage step.
Authoritative Rule
A ranged weapon's profile tells you how it shoots, including its type, range, Rate of Fire, Force and any traits. These values are used whenever a unit makes a ranged attack with that weapon.
Current source path
Check the Stunned source and any linked command timing.
Authoritative Rule
A unit becomes Stunned when it suffers more damage than its Resolve from one source while carrying out a command. Its current command ends immediately and the Stunned effect then limits what it can do.
